Those Who Knew (Large Print / Library Binding)

Staff Reviews
It's remarkable that a book like this, which doesn't remind me of anything I've ever read before, can feel so timely, and so grounded in our current reality. On an island nation still reeling in the years after a brutal dictatorship, Lena is a young professor who fears that a powerful and respected senator - with whom she once had a relationship - is responsible for the death of one of his young female staffers. Novey makes some really interesting choices - like setting the story in a fictional place - while she ponders ideas of justice and complicity. Original, powerful, well done.

“This book packs a punch. While slender, every sentence, every word, is well-chosen and thought-provoking. However, as intellectually stimulating as it is, it’s still accessible and enjoyable. Every chapter, though small, gives you a snapshot of who a character is and drives the plot along. I picked this book up on a whim and from the very first page I couldn’t put it down. I can’t recommend this book enough!”
